Devoe

Hello, my name is Devoe. My animal id is #17585. I am a male white dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 03-Jan-2018.

Devoe is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Canine Respiratory Disease Complex, which is contagious to other dogs. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Devoe, whom we believe would be suitable for most homes.

Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

A volunteer writes: Devoe blends nicely with the snowy landscape except for a few dark spots distressing his well groomed white coat. He is collected in his kennel and leashed easily. A good walker he is, sniffing the ground all the way to the park and leaving his scents. He nears very nicely his peers, even the small ones and leaves alone the few birds met. He enjoys his time in playgroups where he is bouncy and playful with his kind. He poses nicely for the photo shoot. He did not mind me outfitting him with a coat and a scarf. At first a little aloof, Devoe warmed up after our icy stroll ….He started to run, jump and play with the tennis ball and even brought it back to my feet. Back inside the care center, we sat in a warm spot, Devoe leaning against my legs and accepting caresses. I so love his beautiful clear eyes. Are they blue, green or changing with his thoughts? Devoe is a very handsome young dog, well mannered, sociable, friendly and good with his own. A great companion and forever best friend he will make… Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center

My medical notes are…

Weight: 52.2 lbs

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: AVERAGE (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)

Behavior Asilomar: H – Healthy

Potential challenges: : Fearful

Potential challenges comments:: Fearful: When Devoe first entered the care center, he appeared very fearful. He has warmed up to his new environment and now appears social and outgoing with new people. If this behavior does re surface in a new environment, it is important to always go slow and give Devoe the option to walk away from any social interaction. Devoe should never be forced to approach anything that she is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Devoe’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Devoe would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings.
