08/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Decker came into our center as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. He was easily leashed and allowed all handling during intake and his initial medical exam. He pulled a bit on his relief walk. Upon entering the assessment room he was friendly and social. He held the assessor’s gaze during Look, body soft and tail wagging. For Sensitivity he was shoulder rubbing the assessor, lip licking, body soft, leaning in to the touch. For tag he escalates and jumps up, attempting to mouth the leash, he settles easily with redirection. For both Squeeze attempts he did not pull back his paw, tail low and wagging. He displayed minimal interest in Toy, sniffing it and walking away. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Decker displays soft body language as he greets the other dog. The Behavior Team recommends that Decker be placed in an Experienced home. It would be beneficial for and children in the home to have an in depth interaction with him. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog jumps on assessor, attempts to mouth leash. Settles quickly when redirected. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. relaxed or back Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs toy. Dog to Dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Decker displays soft body language as he greets the other dog.
