A volunteer writes: Are you searching for a supportive and judgement-free BFF to listen to all your secret hopes and dreams? Well, look no further because beautiful David is, quite literally, all ears and his gentle expression and chocolate drop eyes speak loud and clear…this guy gets you. Sociable and open to love, David enjoys meeting new friends of both the two and four-legged variety and he’s such a charmer that he even had the police officers who drove him to the Care Center singing his praises–apparently he loves car rides! A well-behaved boy who walks nicely on leash, takes care of all his business outside and sniffs (and rejects) my treats very politely, it’s obvious he knew what it means to be part of a family before arriving at our door and just as obvious that he’s anxious to leave his lonely kennel behind and get back to a real home asap. Though he’d choose a brisk walk through the park over an afternoon on the couch any day, David comes when called for snuggles and enjoys a behind-the-ear scratch or butt rub just as much as the next dog and he’s very keen to interact with other pups, wagging his tail as they pass on the street or whining to play through the backyard fence. A forever home full of fun, friends and family is what David craves and in return he promises a lifetime supply of the kind of unconditional loyalty that only a doggie BFF can bring. Come visit David today and don’t be shy, he’s ready to welcome you…with open ears!
04/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
David came into our center after he was found as a stray. He allowed all handling during intake and his initial medical exam. David pulled on leash for his relief walk. He barked to solicit attention in the SAFER assessment room. David allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, eyes averted. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, open mouth pant, tail wagging, body soft. David began over escalating mid Tag game, jumping up hard on assessor, but settled. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, mouthed assessor’s hand without pressure on second Squeeze. He playfully kept a firm grip on Toy, body loose. When off leash with other dogs, David engages in exuberant play with social females. The Behavior Team feels David would do best with an Experienced adopter. He would benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and focus, as well as not to jump up. David would benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, open mouth pant, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, open mouth, tail wag, body soft Tag: 2. Dog overescalates mid game, jumping hard on assessor, settles Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip , body loose. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, David engages in exuberant play with social females.
04/07/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION

The behavior department feels that David may be placed into a home with another playful dog. When off leash with other dogs, David engages in play with intent to mount. 4/9 update: David engages in exuberant play with social females. He does attempt to mount but is much more interested in play. 4/11 update: David continues to engage in exuberant play with males and females. He attempts to mount dogs of both sexes during play. 4/12 update: David engages in bouncy play with a female dog. 4/13 update: David continues to engage in rough play. 4/14 update: David is a bit sexually motivated but mostly engages in play. 4/15 update: David is sexually motivated and will continue to attempt to mount once correction is offered.
