07/03/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/03/17 19:04 Danny A1117369 is a male white & brown brindle hound/terrier mix that was found tied up to a tree in a Bronx Park by Parks Department earlier this afternoon. They stated Danny was friendly and allowed them to untie him and place him into a crate to bring him into our BXAC location. During intake it was noticed Danny has some marks/abrasions on his body but he’s still a sweet and affectionate boy. Danny allowed to be scanned (-), (not collared due to his neck appearing red/irritated) and taken pictures of. Danny walked nicely alongside me to his kennel where he hopped in on his own once he spotted the canned & dry food mix inside.
07/09/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: “Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling…” I’m not so sure about pipes but I definitely do hear music every time I see our Danny. A little white snow pea in his spacious kennel, at just 38 pounds Danny would fit perfectly in your pocket, in your home, and most certainly your heart. Danny is bright and eager to head out for our walk and is quick to show off his leash manners, a powderpuff on a string. After a cruise around the block we head into the yard for some grassy fun where Danny sits for his treats, climbs up on my lap for pets, and eventually just stays there resting his tiny frame across my knees. To look at Danny one has to assume he’s not always known the best of care. His ivory coat is thin and dirty and skin is red and raw in patches particularly over his floppy ears. But as is so often the case the dogs who’ve known the roughest roads are the most ready and willing to love. Danny puts his head in my hands over and over, asking me to rub those ears and scratch under his chin, as if a few pets are all he needs. Danny was found tied to a tree in the Bronx and had no issues being picked up and transported to the shelter. He’s been relaxed and playful with handlers while there and while he can be a bit shy has enjoyed the company of other pups. “‘Tis I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow. Oh Danny boy, I love you so.” Danny is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan ACC.
Another volunteer writes: I had the pleasure, and I mean pleasure, of meeting Danny today. Danny takes the expression “lover boy” to a whole new dimension! Danny wants to hug and kiss, never stops wagging his tail, has the softest, sweetest expression on the planet, and while he can be a bit hand shy with a quickly raised hand, he never stops looking for love. When I sat down to take some notes he was in my lap with kisses, and after a while settled at my feet in quiet contentment. Danny needs some TLC for his coat, good nutrition will be a good start, but once you’ve fallen in love with him in the 10 seconds that it will take you, you won’t even notice. He absolutely made my day today, but for me it can only be today. For you, lucky adopter, it can be every minute, of every day, and every day after that. Come meet our resident lover boy today.
