11/10/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/10/16 17:30 Finder stated that Daisy was very good around her 4 year old and very gentle. Daisy got along well and was not bothered by the finders small dog whom did not like Daisy and barked and snapped and Daisy still was calm around the small dog. Daisy allowed owner to bathe her and did not struggle too much. Daisy does pull on the leash when walked and appears house trained. Daisy is sweet and allows handling but was timid and got progressively more fearful during intake and medical handling but still allowed handling.
11/14/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: My knowledge of Dukes of Hazzard is thin but Google tells me our girls’ namesake is a “well-meaning though sometimes naive and often scantily-dressed, rogue Southern belle.” Well then! Well our 3 year-old Daisy Duke (just “Daisy” to me) is clearly a New Yorker, a city gal through and through. Though still quite young and endlessly sweet, her worn coat and occasional bump and bruise, are more than enough to give her credibility on the streets. And I have to chuckle at the “scantily clad” bit as Daisy did happen to come into our care wearing an adorable (though not flimsy) coat! But really, Daisy would make anything look adorable. She is a wisp of a girl, much too thin, but with long, elegant legs and a tail to match. And Daisy certainly has the “well-meaning” bit down. Though treats are understandably at the forefront of her mind, she sits for them patiently giving only the slightest “woof” if I carry on too long. And while maybe not Southern she is a “belle.” Her perfect oval face is like a sculpture and her beautiful eyes like emerald pools within it. I’m not sure about naive though at points she does seem younger than 3 to me. She is bouncy and full of life, blissfully happy and unaware of her surroundings and her state. But most of all, Daisy is lovely, earnest, warm, affectionate, eager, wanting, and ready. For her next warm meal, for a place to rest her head, for a home of her own. This Daisy is more of a lady than a Duke and a springtime bloom over a Hazzard. She needs only a garden to grow. Daisy is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.
