04/22/16 17:40 Daisy A10714402 is an approx 4 year old AMPT/mix who was rescued by the owner and is being surrendered because of pet conflict. The owner has been caring for her for 4 years. She was last seen by a vet in 2015 and currently has no known health issues. Socialization Daisy is friendly and outgoing with strangers. She has been around young children and is very friendly and plays exuberanlty with them. She lived in the home with 3 other dogs and plays exuberantly and also very rough with them. The owner stated that her playing has led to a few conflicts. She lived in the home with 6 cats but was kept in a separate room from them. She has not bitten anyone or any other animal. Behavior Daisy went potty in the backyard. She has no accidents in the home. She does not like baths and has hairloss. She is not bothered by the following: having her food bowl/treats/toys taken away from her, fireworks/thunderstorms, being restrained or pushed off of furniture. For a new family to know Daisy is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, active, and a good runner. She loves to play fetch and tug. She plays very rough with the other dogs but plays gently with her owner and his father. She is crate trained and slept in her crate. She pulls very hard on the leash but is mostly let loose in the yard. She has to be supervised because she knows how to climb fences. She was fed Pedigree dry food. Behavior during intake Daisy was friendly and allowed all handling. She allowed to be scanned(-), collared and photographed. She likes to play and when she heard the squeaky toy, she became very excited. She wagged her tail and had an open mouth. She was then walked and transferred into a kennel.
05/24/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Not enough kisses in your life? (And I mean both the chocolate and the other kind.) Well you’re in luck. It’s Daisy! Just as pretty, delicate, and sure to bring a smile to your face as her namesake, this little sweet something is ready to be the chocolate sprinkles to your sundae. Daisy is a true “pocket pittie” at 44 lbs, appears to be housebroken, has terrific manners on leash, and…UNDERBITE! (Sorry, I was swept away.) Daisy was surrendered to our care through no fault of her own. Her former owners simply took on a bit more than they could chew, citing among Daisy’s housemates 3 other dogs and 6 cats. Well of course I’m a bit biased, but I imagine Daisy had to have been the sweetest of that bunch, what with her caramel-colored coat and DELICIOUS underbite. (Oops, did I already mention the underbite?) Daisy is said to be crate-trained, playful, active, and friendly, and also to have lived well with young children. She can be an excitable little bean when she wants to be so would do best with an equally playful, active owner and someone who can give this lovely the TLC she deserves. Daisy suffers from slight Alopecia along her side which, as we all know, is largely cosmetic and highly treatable. Until then she’s just a daisy on the left and a dandelion on the right! Perfect combo if you ask me. Yep, you’ll need a lot more than a dollop of this Daisy to ensure this summer is your best. Daisy is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.
05/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Daisy came into our center as an owner surrender on 5/20/2016. It is reported she has been around young children, very friendly. Daisy lived in a home with 3 other similarly sized dogs, plays exuberantly and very rough with them, at times the playing has led to a few conflicts. Daisy also lived in a home with 6 cats but was kept separate from them. Owner reports Daisy is housebroken to go outside, crate trained and sleeps inside crate. Daisy is reportedly not bothered if anyone touches her Food, Toys, Treats. She is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, active, and a good runner. Owner reports Daisy needs to be supervised in a yard as she knows how to climb fences. During intake, Daisy was friendly and allowed all handling, became very excited when she heard squeaky sound of Toy. Daisy pulled on leash for her relief walk. She was friendly and sociable upon entering SAFER assessment room. Daisy displayed high energy and movement during positioning for tactile portions of the assessment. She pulled out the first few times during Look item, but eventually settled and allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, soft. She accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, soft. Daisy playfully ran and jumped during Tag game, settled easily at end. She moved her soft body and legs away on first Squeeze attempt, so remaining item was conducted using Flank. She turned her head towards assessor’s hand on both Flank Squeezes. Daisy playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip with a loose and very wiggly body. She approached the helper dog a bit quickly, tail above spine level, ears forward. The Behavior Team feels Daisy would do best with an Experienced adopter. Daisy would benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, jogs, exercise, play, as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, panting, soft Tag: 1. assumes play position and joins the game, settles easily at end Squeeze 1: 3.
