02/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cupid pulls a bit on the leash. He was stiff and did not show social behavior during the assessment. Cupid fearful and repeatedly attempt to get away from the handler during the sensitivity test. He was shy and nervous and trembled during handling, with a fearful body language. Cupid showed some concerning behavior during the tag interaction: snapped and barked at the assessor with a stiff body language, ears forward, tail high. The behavior department decided to skip the rest of the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Cupid shows minimal interest with the toys. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 3. Dog is not fearful and is struggling to get away. The dog is not focused and is in constant movement, unconnected to the Assessor. Tag: 4. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, body stiff, barks, air snap and body checks the Assessor. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy. Playgroup Notes: Cupid engages in running play, pushing into the females during play. He does eventually attempt to mount.
02/10/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Cupid engages in pushy running play with the main goal to mount the females he is engaging with (he is currently unaltered). He arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations, the behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing him into a home with other dogs. When off leash with other dogs Cupid is sexually motivated and exuberant. He will bound toward the helper dog in bow position and solicit running play from her. 2/11 update: Cupid engages in running play, pushing into the females during play. He does eventually attempt to mount.
