09/09/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Although always drawn to Cane Corsos, I have a little hesitation before taking them out of their kennels. They are imposing, large and tall dogs. What if I am not up to snuff ? I first relax, try to convey a friendly while assertive attitude, talk softly to them and offer a treat. If well received, I go for it. No disappointment with Cuddles. He is a gentle giant. When asked, he comes slowly to his door, accepts a dry liver treat and a scratch on the nose. Leashing him is a piece of cake. I did not cuddle with Cuddles as we have to know each other a little better. He enjoys clearly caresses, though, on his head and body. I avoid the tips of his ears as they have sores, may be from old flea bites. Cuddles walks slowly on the leash and does his business on the way. A number of dogs are met, small and big, males and females. Cuddles is aware of them but not interested in inter-acting one way or another. Cuddles might be 79 pounds but he should probably weight twenty more. His care has not been the best. He might have been a yard dog. Still, he is quite beautiful in his intact anthracite coat and mostly friendly and gentle. I love the way he looks at me when I pet his head. He is quite dear. His Cane Corso eyes are luminous, but will shine to their fullest in your caring and loving hands. Come and meet gorgeous Cuddles at the Manhattan Care Center and take him home as your forever loyal friend.
