06/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: The first time I saw Crunch in her cage, she was wrapped up in a blanket like a little burrito. Her tail started going as soon as I approached, eventually knocking off her shell and immediately stealing my heart! This little lady is all kinds of cute (that long body and stubby legs! That asymmetrical face! And those little teeth!!) and every kind of sweet. She is constantly wagging her tail, and seems genuinely delighted to meet any person she comes across. She has great leash manners, checks in often, and seems housebroken. She seems to have an ideal middle-aged energy level, is treat-motivated, and just oozing with charm!! She loves love, and will rest her front paws on my lap (I think if her body shape were more conducive to hoisting herself up there, she would!) and make the sweetest eye contact while I pet her. I was sure the Crunch-wrap had to be man-made, but now that I’ve spent more time with her I think maybe she managed to pull it off herself….she’s pretty magical! Please come see for yourself at Brooklyn ACC!
06/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Crunch came into the shelter as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake it was reported Crunch had a loose body and allowed all handling. During SAFER Crunch came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Crunch was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Crunch was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Crunch appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest.
