10/11/16 18:14 Cora is a three year old tan and white American Pitbull terrier. She was surrendered by her owner due to owner moving into a facility that does not accept pets. Cora had been with her owner since she was a few weeks old and was brought from a friend. Cora has skin allergies and was taken to the vet last year for this issue. Cora has lived with about eight adults and is described as friendly and outgoing. Owner stated she would walk up to the new person wag her tail and sniff them. She has not been around children. She was taken to the dog park and is described as relaxed and playful. She will engage in exuberant play and is great with any breed according to her owner. Cora has not bitten within the last ten days. Cora is housetrained and is walked three times a day and will rarely have accidents indoors. Cora is not bothered when her food is touched while eating ot when a toy is taken away. If she is given a bone she will move away and attempt to eat the bone in a corner, she will growl if she is approached while eating a bone. She is not bothered when she is bathed or brushed. Cora is fearful when her nails are trimmed and will pull away. She will bark when a stranger approaches her home but once the door is opened she will relax and greet the visitor with a loose wiggly body. Cora is described as being a high energy dog, she loves chew toys and balls. She has been kept only indoors and knows the commands, sit, down and give paw. She eats grain free Blue Buffalo brand dry food and is fed a cup and a half twice a day. Her favorite treat is cheese. Cora was taken to the dog parks on the weekends and is used to off leashed and leashed play at the park. When off leash she will wander some but come when called. Upon intake Cora was relaxed and had a loose wiggly body. Cora sniffed counselor when approached and took a treat. She became fearful when scanned and moved away from the scanner. Cousnelor was able to collar, and photograph. She showed no signs of aggression.
10/18/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Now here is a dog who knows how to make friends! Cora loves her people, and they love her too. This sweet girls takes about 2 seconds to roll over for belly rubs, appears to be housetrained, and LOVES to snuggle and give kisses. Cora walks well on a leash, unless she sees some of her friends (AKA her favorite shelter staff), in which case she may try to join them on their lunch break. 🙂 Did I mention Cora knows how to sit for treats? If you’re looking for an affectionate, gentle, slightly-oversized lap dog, look no further. Cora is waiting for you at the Brooklyn ACC!
