1/10/16 20:06 Basic information: Ezra A1062674 a 7 month old am pit bull mix and Cora A1062676 a 1 yr old AM pit bull Mix were both brought in as owner surrenders. They were both born in the home. The owner surrendered Ezra and Cora because the owner has no time to care for the dogs. Ezra and Cora have never been taken to a vet. Socialization: Around strangers Cora is very protective of the owner and is very fearful around new people or places. Cora has lived with children one 4 yr old child, she is relaxed and playful around the child. Cora has lived with Ezra A1062674 and one other male pit bull mix, she was relaxed around them and plays very well together. However she is very Aggressive around other dogs she does not know and will growl bark lung and snap at the animal or anyone she does not know. Cora has never bitten anyone. Behavior: The owner stats that Cora is not bothered when some moves her food or treats while she is eating, when someone takes her toys away or when someone disturbs her while sleeping. Cora likes to be brushed and given bathes but has never had her nails trimmed. When an unfamiliar person or animal approaches a family member or her home she will growl, bark, lung and snap at the person. The owner does not know how Cora is around loud noises such as storms or fireworks. For a new family to know: The owner describes Cora as very protective and fearful with a high activity level. Her favorite activity is to play fetch with his owner. In the home Cora tends to follow the owner around the house and is kept mainly indoors. Cora sleeps in the floor of the bedroom on a blanket. Cora was fed Pedigree dry and wet dog food two times a day. She is house trained and has never had an accident in the home, when outside he goes to the bathroom on or around trees and grass. Cora knows the commands “sit “, “come “and “down”. For exercise Cora is used to brisk walks on the leash and twice a day and does pull hard on the leash especially around other people or animals (tries to lung at them). Behavior during intake: Cora was very tense with stiff body and tail tucked between legs when approached by staff she attempted lung at the staff member, we were able to scanned (-), collared and placed in dog kennel.
01/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Surrendered with her housemate Ezra (A1062674) due to “no time”, we’re told that Cora is fearful around new people and places. And, of course, we are all new to her and this place is new and she’s doing a great job of handling it. Ms. Cora is also pregnant, so between bearing that extra weight of her body’s daily change and all of this….she’s a rockstar! Cora lived with a 4 year old child and was relaxed and playful with him, and lived with two other dogs and they played well together. We’re also told that she can be aggressive around other dogs she doesn’t know as well as people, but other than some shyness and reserve Cora and I got along well. She let me put a coat around her swollen belly and we walked to the park. Off leash in the yard she sat for a treat, was shyly friendly, came to me when I called her and put her head in my lap for petting. Cora needs a safe, sanitary and quiet place to bring her babies into the world and take care of them. She’ll also need a place to call home forever and may need some positive reinforcement training for possible behavior issues. She’s a beauty in her light tan coat and matching eyes, and is looking towards us humans to provide her with what she needs. Are we up to the challenge? I hope so.
