I am a spayed female br brindle and white chihuahua sh and shih tzu mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 03/03/2016 from NY 10452, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES.

03/03/16 11:11 BASIC INFO Cookie A1066549 is a 4 year old Chihuahua/Shih Tzu/Yorkie Mix. She was a gift to the owner 4 years ago. The primary reason for surrender is that the owner is allergic to Cookie. Cookie does not have any health concerns. SOCIALIZATION Cookie is very fearfull of strangers and it takes her a while to warm up to you. She plays gentle with adults. She lived with 2 children who are now teenagers and she was very respectful and playful with the kids. Cookie lived with a pitbull and she got along well with the dog. She has never bitten anyone. BEHAVIOR During storms or fireworks, she hides. The owner stated that they never touched the food bowl, water bowl or toy away. Cookie allows you to bathe her and trim her nails. If an unfamiliar approaches the owner or doorway Cookie barks. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Cookie is best described as friendly, affectionate and playful. She has a medium activity level. At home, she follows you around. She likes to play with balls. Cookie has been kept indoors. She listens to the commands sit, stay and come. Cookie was fed Purina dry dog food. She is potty trained and urinates on cement but defecates on grass or dirt. Cookie slept inside of a crate that was always kept open. For exercise she would be walked on the leash. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Cookie was very nervous upon arrival and snapped at the microchip scanner when she was scanned. There was minimal contact with Cookie to avoid an accident.

Cookie was in her kennel with a fearful body language. Once she was removed from the kennel with a towel Cookie walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She doesn’t allow the assessor or the assistant to pet her. She became uncomfortable giving a low growl; expose his front teeth, with a fearful body language. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Cookie was not interested in toys. Cookie was surrender to us. Her previous owner described her as friendly, affectionate and playful. She has a medium activity level. Cookie is very fearful of strangers and it takes her a while to warm up to you. She plays gentle with adults. She lived with 2 children who are now teenagers and she was very respectful and playful with the kids. Cookie lived with a pit bull and she got along well with the dog. The owner stated that they never touched the food bowl, water bowl or toy away”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Toy 1: No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Cookie will greet other dogs and wander. She will offer correction for mounting.
