A volunteer writes: Every bit as sweet as the confection after which she was named, Cookie is a delight. Her coat is unique, beautiful and lush….and I teased her that she had cookie crumbs all over her. Cookie is likely housetrained, pulls slightly on leash but no biggie, sits when asked, takes her cookie softly and then became my best friend because I had treats! Cookie is low key, calm and gentle and her soft, pretty amber eyes make soft eye contact. She got a brief bit of zoomies in the backyard pen, played with a plush toy and it was cute to watch; she settled right away and came over for another treat and a hug. Cookie ignored other dogs we passed on our walk as well as others in the backyard, happiest being with her person for petting and hugs. Cookie is looking for a person to love – she’s easy, gentle, fun, playful and uniquely gorgeous. Add some sweetness to your life, and come meet our Cookie today.
BEHAVIOR :
Cookie walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Cookie played tug-of-war with the leash; body was soft and was not difficult to distract her. Cookie was easy to handle when chewing on toy. Cookie did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Grab at the leash with a soft body and was not difficult to distract her.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Toy 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you.
PG:
Cookie is social but has limited social skills with other dogs. She is exuberant and pushy when soliciting, often not reading signals from other dogs that they are uncomfortable. She entered the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations the behavior department recommends Cookie go to a home with an extremely boistrous dog (male or female) or have a pre-adoption interaction to ensure the resident dog is comfortable with her play style.
When off leash with other dogs, Cookie solciits and engages in exuberant, pawsy play. She becomes mouthy and vocal during play.
