01/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Comfy came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Comfy was very friendly and playful, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Comfy came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Comfy joins the game during the tag interaction and during the resources portion of the assessment Comfy was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Comfy appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves his legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Comfy greets appropriately with a loose body. He is a little sexually motivated but takes corrections well and then engages in rowdy play with body slams and paw slaps.
