Medical Summary Sex: Male neutered Estimated age: 4 years as reported by previous owner Fleas: No flea dirt. S: Active, friendly, allows all handling O: BAR-H, BCS 4/9, severe muscle wasting in hind legs, MMs pink and moist EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose. Moderate tartar and gingivitis. PLNs: Not enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Severe medial buttressing and crepitus in both stifles – worse on left than right. Lame on both hind legs, shifts weight to front legs. No skin lesions noted. UG: Male neutered A: Severe arthritis in both stifles, likely secondary to cruciate ligament tears Short-term prognosis: Fair with appropriate pain relief, pt will likely need surgery on one or both stifles P: Pt was not weighed at the time of exam (exam performed as pt was coming into the building). Once weighed, start Rimadyl 4 mg/kg PO SID x10 days. Consider other pain meds as needed. Recommend bilateral stifle X-rays and orthopedic consult. 1088
