I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/29/2016 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

Coco Custard came into the shelter as a stray on 7/29/16, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. Behavior during Intake: Coco Custard was nervous and tense with his tail tucked. He allowed limited handling. During SAFER Coco Custard came into the assessment room he had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor; he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Coco Custard was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Coco Custard was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Coco Custard appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels he would be suitable for an “Average” adopter with a slow approach. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted; with ears back mouth open and trembles. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. He is a bit fearful. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, trembles and a bit fearful body a bit tense. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1/2: 1 Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest.

Coco Custard was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. 8/3: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Coco Custard greets the other dogs but mostly keeps to himself as he explores the pen. He is tolerant of a dog that continually solicits him to play. 8/4: Coco Custard is nervous as he greets the other dogs. He mostly keeps to himself and runs away from a dog that is soliciting play. 8/8: Coco Custard was tolerant of a puppy today and met another male dog but still, mostly just kept to himself and avoided most interactions.
