Out of concern for her stress levels and her response to restraint, we feel Coco is not a great candidate for a handling assessment at this time. Please see her owner surrender profile for a full summary of her behavior in her previous home. PLAYGROUP: Pending. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 9/11/17: Upon intake Coco was very fearful and would avoid staff interaction. Coco allowed all handling from her owner only. RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner- Coco has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression- Coco has displayed fearful behavior in shelter, she displays no social behavior towards handlers and attempts to increase distance and avoid contact. Because she is so uncomfortable, Coco does not tolerate any form of human-touch.
