Medical Summary scan: neg sex: female intact est age: 2-3yrs S/O: Dog is BARH BCS 3/9 T – 102, P – 110, R – 32/sniff Offered small amount of wet dog food and did not seem interested, but offered small amount of a/d and ate readily so mixed the two and the dog ate both readily EENT – mild amount ceruminous debris AU Grade 1/4 dental dz; mm – pink, moist; crt < 2s Thinning of fur on head rostral to ears, no associated dermatitis Third mammary gland left side ruptured A: Lactating – Mastitis – gland abscessed and ruptured; most likely from ascending infection from poor environmental hygiene or traumatic injury from nursing offspring P: Possible cruelty; necrotic mammary tissue needs to be surgically drained and debrided; C&S should ideally be performed prior to starting on antibiotics PROGNOSIS: Good unless sepsis occurs
