02/05/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jake previously lived with adults and has been around children. The owner stated Jake is tolerant, gentle and playful towards the children. The owner mentioned Jake is house trained, crate trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Jake as confident, pushy, friendly, and mellow. Jake has bitten another person none within the last ten days, and blood had been drawn. At intake it was reported Jake was not handled, he was collard by the owner. During SAFER Jake came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Jake was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Jake was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Jake has a previous bite history where he bit the son through his jacket where blood was drawn. Another bite occurred when Jake was being taken outside the door was open when someone was passing and Jake ran after the person and attacked them and then ran back inside. In result the person did have to go to the hospital for treatment of wound. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a New Hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2.
