03/31/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/31/16 20:49 These 8 dogs were seized by police from an apt after their owner was evicted. They were left in the apt in crates. Police had given them dog food. They all were relaxed around each other. They would sniff each other and sometimes play with each other with loose, wiggly bodies. They were dirty on their undersides and rear ends, apparently soaked in urine. His right ear is pink and hairless at the tip. He had a loose, wiggly body, open mouth, and wagging tail while we pet him, scanned him (-), collared him, and positioned him for pictures. He jumped up and leaned against us.
04/09/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Nearly as tiny as the four-leaf kind, Clover may be 3 years-old but looks closer to 3 months. He is so petite and lovely in his 29 lb frame. On first meeting him he jumps and jumps in his kennel as if on a spring. “Pick me! Pick me!” Of course I do and in moments we’re outside, him trotting along next to me at an even clip. He walks well on leash but off is where this pocket pittie shines. The moment he’s free he bounds down to one end of the yard then back again. Those little legs were in need of a good stretch! When I go to arrange his kerchief on his neck he darts away from me and barks. “No!!!” This little boy has opinions! Soon he’s turned it into a game, my chasing him with my blue kerchief (perhaps he wanted green?) and him dodging me at every turn. He barks again and again (laughing at me!) as I fail to catch him. Finally I sit down on a bench, resigning myself to my loss and his win. Clover pauses for a moment then calmly walks over stopping right in front of me. “OK” he seems to say. I easily knot his adornment and though I thought it impossible, he grows even more adorable. I go to stroke his head “thank you for letting me win” and he instinctively flinches. It seems this little Clover may not always have been lucky. I pet him again and again and though he continues to flinch each and every time he leans into me and I can feel his breathing relax. Fun and games are wonderful but love is what he’s needed. This little Clover may not always have been lucky but I hope he will be from now on. Clover is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.
04/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Clover walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Clover had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He was not interested in toys. Clover did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Clover is a bit sexually motivated, engaging in play with intent to mout.
04/05/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Clover engages in running play with males and females. He may attempt to mount, but he is currently unaltered. He came from a home with 7 other dogs (both females and males), but he arrived as a stray so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department feels that Clover could go into a home with another playful dog. When off leash with other dogs, Clover is a bit sexually motivated, engaging in play with intent to mount. 4/7 update: Clover solicits and engages in pushy, exuberant play. 4/9 updaet: Clover is social and will run along side the other dogs during play. When interacting with a nervous male dog, he does muzzle punch and mount him.
