A volunteer writes: My handsome and shy new friend is a gorgeous brindle boy with worried eyes and a sweet disposition. Likely housetrained, he uses the ‘facilities’ as soon as we’re out the door, and then walks nicely on leash as we head to the park. We met another volunteer with her dog and we all walked together, Clint being a perfect gentleman on leash. Stopping for some pictures in the park, Clint poses with his serious ‘I’m being a model’ face. Back in the building we head to the yard for some off leash time and Clint
explores the pen, coming back to me frequently for petting and reassurance. He sits at my feet for comfort, his back to me as he surveys the pen getting up only to sniff some new scent, or explore some new movement. Our eureka moment came when Clint put his paws on my lap, gave me a kiss and rolled his head into my chest. His sweet shyness, gentle personality and willingness to trust me stole my heart. I look forward to spending more time with Clint, but mostly I look forward to kissing him goodbye and watching his tail wag as he walks out the door with his new person.
A volunteer updates: My handsome buddy Clint is still a bit shy but was happy to see me greeting me with a wagging tail. As he sees people he knows he greets them happily, and still needs a bit of time to warm up to people he’s meeting for the first time. He made tail waggy friends with two men who called out to him on the sidewalk, but from a distance and that’s OK. He again showed off his housetraining skills, nice leash manners and gentle demeanor. Discerning and careful, Clint is looking for that special person who will give him the time he needs to become friends. Sometimes that “hard to get” friend is the most special of all.
