06/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Update: 6/16 Since Clifford’s last SAFER he was adopted and returned to us for growling at the owner’s 17 year old son and his friends. They only had for 10 days but realized that he would growl at two of three other dogs that he spent time with. The owner’s reported that Clifford was fine when interacting with them and would only growl at the son and his friends. We believe that Clifford can go to a home with an experienced adopter and no children. SAFER: 5/26 Clifford previously lived with adults and children ages 3 months to 19 years old. The owner stated Clifford is tolerant of the children but when he was provoked he would snap at them and he didn’t play with the children. The owner mentioned Clifford is fearful of strangers when one may reach he will snap but when he plays with adults he is gentle. It was reported by the owner when Clifford nails are being trimmed he will pull away and snap or bite. The owner reported Clifford is house trained using wee-wee pads, has a low activity level and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Clifford was growling when attempting to handle him, assistance was needed from the owner and all handling was allowed. During SAFER Clifford came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Clifford was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Clifford was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns with certain situations with Clifford attempting to snap or bite, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is fearful and whines, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense and lip licks. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest.
