07/21/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Cinnamon reminds me of a striped candy crush, sweet and spicy at the same time. I watched her in action in playgroup with her peers and so loved what I saw. A gal having lots of fun and tremendously enjoying the company of her kind as well as the one of her caretakers. What a beauty! A gorgeous “roussette”! Those eyes, slightly slanted, two luminous topazes matching her magnificent rust-color coat. I love her big red nose and that face always split with a giant smile. As I enter her enclosure, Cinnamon aims right for me, bumping her nose into mine, her tongue licking me by the same token. Cinnamon is quite enthusiastic. She is full of life, a happy nature who sees most likely always a glass as half full and is ready for all kinds of adventure. She is quite a trooper and a wonderful spirit. It would be very difficult not to be in a good mood with Cinnamon. She pulls a little on the leash, does her business in the street, sits on command, and will stay quite obediently even when the play pen’s door is open. She listens and does not try to escape. She comes when I call her and absolutely loves to play tag, be smooched, kissed, squeezed and hugged. The balls…I forgot about those. She loves them, yet lets me take them out of her mouth. Cinnamon is quite an amazing dog!! She also thinks that everyone is nice. When a dog snarls at her, she just stays there and wags her tail. Have I said enough for you to be tempted? Just come and meet this young girl here at the Manhattan Care Center and make her your forever best friend.
07/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cinnamon pulls a bit on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy (moderate). Cinnamon was excited and mouthy during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Cinnamon took the toy away but had soft body language. Cinnamon is an active dog who needs a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experience home. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, mouths the hand with a moderate pressure. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog gently places her open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently places her open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place his body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Cinnamon is tolerant of polite greeting and offers a few brief sniffs initially. Once she becomes more acclimated, Cinnamon begins to engage in bouts of bouncy play with the male helper dog.
07/17/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Cinnamon has been playful and exuberant with other dogs during off leash play. She offers appropriate correction for inappropriate behaviors, such as mounting. The behavior department feels Cinnamon may be adopted into a home with another social, playful dog. Due to the fact that Cinnamon arrived as a stray, it is unknown how her behavior will translate into a home with dogs. 7/17: When off leash with other dogs, Cinnamon is tolerant of polite greeting and offers a few brief sniffs initially. Once she becomes more acclimated, Cinnamon begins to engage in bouts of bouncy play with the male helper dog. 7/18: Cinnamon is social and playful. 7/19: Cinnamon is social and playful with males and females. 7/20: Cinnamon is playful and exuberant with other playful dogs.
