The ACC comments: Cindy is a beautiful middle-aged pooch. If you don’t have the energy to handle a puppy, please consider adopting Cindy. You and she are made for each other.
Another ACC comments : Cindy may be a bit older, but — just like Cyndi Lauper — she’s all rockstar. She has a look in her eyes that says that she’s a bit wiser for her years and knows that it is okay to just go with the flow. She’s calm and cool as we go out for a walk, but breaks out in zoomies as soon as I bend down to scratch her back, wagging her tail emphatically and looking back at me with her adoring eyes. She’s great on the leash and appears to be housebroken. If you are looking for a laid back dog, Cindy is your girl!

MARCH 2016
Behavior:
Cindy came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Cindy was quiet and calm, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Cindy came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Cindy joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Cindy was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Cindy appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed.
Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Cindy greets the greeter dog with a tall posture and hackles up. She explores her surroundings before becoming assertive and attempting to mount the other dog. She listens to human interruptions immediately.
Group Behavior:
Cindy greets the greeter dog with a tall posture and hackles up. She explores her surroundings before becoming assertive and attempting to mount the other dog. She listens to human interruptions immediately.
Update 4/7: Cindy greets with a neutral face and body. She gives brief sniffs, and follows the other dog near his face, before exploring her surroundings.
