04/07/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Gorgeous in his well groomed bronze color coat, Cinco is sitting quietly up front in his kennel patiently waiting for his turn for a walk. Likely housetrained, he goes potty as soon as we’re out the door, and after a short walk outside we head to the backyard for off-leash play time. Cinco is a bit shy and nervous and appreciates a slow approach and nice conversation. Watching him walk through the pen is like watching a sleek panther — elegant and graceful. He’s gorgeous! Wagging his tail softly as other dogs pass our pen, in group play he greets a female helper dog and then engages in soft play when solicited. Cinco loves playing with soft toys, and when I tossed one, he jumped to catch it on the fly! Good job, Cinco; that wasn’t my intent but I was impressed! Sensitive, shy and a bit timid, Cinco is looking for a calm home in which to feel safe and spend the rest of his life. Our behavior team feels he’ll do best with an experienced person without small children, as the sudden movements of little kids could make him nervous. With love and more love, our sensitive boy will make someone an amazing soul mate. Shouldn’t it be you? For video, copy-paste link to browser bar– http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVVM31w4GXI

04/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cinco is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He flinches every time the assessor tries to pet his head or touched him around his neck. Cinco was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. He becomes extremely frightened during the tag interaction, tail tucked, and trying to exit room. He shows minimal interest with toys. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Cinco has been showing fearful behavior and avoids interaction in the care center. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Cinco is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, or repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit, Dog may be crouching ,tail is tucked, mouth closed, body stiff Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy, then turn away. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Cinco is nervous in the yard environment, but greets the female greeter dog with a soft body and wagging tail. When solicited, he engages in bouts of soft play.

03/31/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Cinco was initially fearful in the yard environment and took a few days to become comfortable enough to engage in his true playstyle. He is sometimes sexually motivated (he is currently unaltered) but mostly tends to engage in running, mouthy play. He interacted with one male that he was not comfortable with, but the dissimilar playstyle may have been the root. He arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction for Cinco. When off leash with other dogs, Cinco is nervous in the yard environment, but greets the female greeter dog with a soft body and wagging tail. When solicited, he engages in bouts of soft play. 4/2 update: Cinco, again, is nervous in the yard but becomes more comfortable and softens when he greets another dog. He is sexually motivated but responds well to correction. He then engages in soft play when solicited. 4/5 update; Cinco engages in pusy play with some intent to mount a female dog. 4/6 update: Cinco engages in running chase play with intent to mount. He becomes aroused and vocal when solicited by a male dog that has a more exuberant style of play. 4/7 update: Cinco engages in bouts of play with playful females.
