Behavior:
Cilantro came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray, behaviors in the home are unknown. During intake, Cilantro had wagging tail and relaxed body, allowed to be picked up and allowed all handling. Cilantro was calm and quiet upon entering SAFER assessment room. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft. Cilantro stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, mouth closed. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settled easily at end. Cilantro did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed no interest in Toy. When off leash with other dogs, Cilantro greets politely and briefly offers a few bounces in response to play. The Behavior Team feels Cilantro would do well with an Average adopter.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.
Toy 1: No interest.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Cilantro greets politely and briefly offers a few bounces in response to play.
