A volunteer writes: A tiny speck of a little girl on a big girl bed….She’s scared of course, but as I sat on the edge of her kennel she came forward, then retreated, then came forward again. It was a little game we played until she was comfortable with me petting her and eventually she came into my arms. Surrendered by her person as she simply “didn’t want her anymore”, we’re told that Cici was gentle with the 12 yo child she lived with, ate people food, and is described as shy and mellow. Like most of her breed, Cici can be fearful and wary of people she doesn’t know. She’ll need a patient and experienced person to socialize her and help her feel safe and loved. She allowed me to cuddle and kiss her after a short while, so I hope that in a loving and safe home Cici will learn quickly that people provide love. Let’s give her that chance.
PROFILE :
Basic Information
Cici is a spayed 3 year old Chihuahua mix. She was adopted from a family member 2 years ago. Owner stated she simply does not want her dog anymore. Owner stated she has no medical issues and last saw a vet 2 years ago.

Behavior
Cici poops and pees indoors. She barks at loud or sudden noises. Cici is not bothered if owner touches her food while she is eating but when her 12 year old son touches she barks at him. She is not bothered if a treat of any kind is taken away from her or if a toy is taken away from her. Owner has never trimmed her nails. Cici will bark when someone knocks on the door or if someone unfamiliar approaches her owner.

_X_No children (under 13)
Potential challenges:
_X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Cici has been observed to display fearful behavior during her stay at our care centers; at times will avoid interaction and shy away from direct-touch. Cici easily startles and is made uncomfortable by loud noises and sudden movement. We cannot be certain if any other behavior is suppressed as a result of this environment. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised.)
_X_Resource guarding (We cannot be certain whether any guarding or possessive behavior may appear in a home environment, but we recommend adopters comfortable with safe management and modification of guarding behavior in case it does.)
