I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/02/2017 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

KNOWN HISTORY: Unaltered male, Stray Previously lived with: Chucky briefly stayed in the home of the finder; (1) Adult, and (2) children. Behavior toward children: Chucky was described as very friendly with the children. Other notes: Chucky allowed all handling and was friendly during intake. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 01/04/17 Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, distracted. Squeeze: 2. Dog moves body away Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1: No interest. Summary: Chucky whined and remained anxious throughout his assessment, attempting to seek exit. Chucky allowed all handling though we advise taking a slow/soft approach when attempting to interact with Chucky, allowing him to adjust at his own pace. Force-free, reward based training is recommended when introducing/exposing Chucky to new and unfamiliar situations. PLAYGROUP: Chucky was brought to the Care Center as a stray, so his previous behavior towards dogs is unknown. When off leash at the Care Center, Chucky nervously approaches a novel female. He attempts to solicit play, with soft play bows, but immediately becomes uncomfortable when she reciprocates. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 01/02/17 Chucky was a little tense, allowed slow handling upon his initial medical examination. Lucky was brought to the Care Center as a stray, so his previous behavior towards dogs is unknown. 1/03: When off leash at the Care Center, Lucky nervously approaches a novel female. He attempts to solicit play, with soft play bows, but immediately becomes uncomfortable when she reciprocates. 1/05: Chucky initially was uncomfortable when interacting with both a calm male and female dog. Chucky tolerated the male briefly mounting him. When separated with the female, he solicited and engaged in gentle play. 1/06-1/08: Chucky engages in gentle play with both male and females dogs. He is uncomfortable but tolerant of mouth play.
