7/1/16 15:35 Basic Information Paris A1079581 a roughly 13 yr. old Maltese Mix and Chubby A1079582 a roughly 8 year old Pomeranian mix were both brought in together as owner surrenders. They are being surrendered because the owner is moving to a place that does not allow dogs. They were given to the owner by a breeder and have not been taken to a vet in years. Socialization Around strangers, Paris and Chubby are both shy around new people. They have never lived a household with children , they are is relaxed and playful with adults in the home. They have never lived with other dogs (they get along well with each other) and when outside they both bark at other dogs. The owner has never had cats so the owner does not know how Paris and Chubby are around them. The owner states that Paris and Chubby have never bite another person or animal before. Behavior Paris and Chubby are not bothered by thunder storms or fireworks. When an unfamiliar person approaches the home or a family member they will bark at them until they feel comfortable around them. They do not mind being bathed but have never had their nails trimmed. Paris and Chubby have never had there food or toy’s/ treats moved while so the owner has no idea how they would react. For a new family to know The owner describes Paris and Chubby as shy and playful with a high activity level there favorite activity is to play fetch with the owner. Around the house, they follow everyone around and prefers to be in the same room as the rest of the family. They have never played with toys. Paris and Chubby sleep mostly indoors with on a dog bed on the floor of the bedroom room. Paris and Chubby were being fed Beniful brand dry dog food once a day. Diesel is house trained, and goes to the bathroom on grass outside the house. When left alone Paris and Chubby are well behaved in the home. . For exercise Paris and Chubby are used to walks outside twice a day. Behavior during the intake During the intake, Paris and Chubby were somewhat tense with stiff bodies. They both allowed to be scanned (negative), photographed, collar and placed the dog in the kennel.

Chubby was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth, growling. Once she was removed from her kennel she walks calmly on leash. Chubby was stiff and did not show social behavior during the assessment. Chubby was uncomfortable with handling; she stands tall, and tries to look large. She wrinkles her muzzle to expose her front teeth and preparing to lunge forward. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Chubby was not interested in toys. She does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. Chubby was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Chubby is shy around new people. When an unfamiliar person approaches the home or a family member she will bark at them until they feel comfortable around them. Chubby used to live with another dog Paris A1079581 They have never lived with other dogs (they get along well with each other) and when outside they both bark at other dogs”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
