12/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: Summary: Chrome has remained difficult to manage during his stay at our care centers. Upon approach his kennel, Chrome is stiff bodied, hard barking and whale-eying and will attempt to lunge forward towards the kennel bars. Chrome actively avoids any form of interaction and is made uncomfortable by forms of direct contact, for these reasons, the behavior department believes Chrome is not an appropriate candidate for a SAFER assessment at this time. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/28/16 During his initial medical examination, Chrome appeared tense, stiff and tolerated minimal handling. RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_Place with a New Hope partner(Chrome may benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue group who can appropriately manage and assess his behavior in a more stable environment.) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression(Chrome may likely require significant behavioral modification as we cannot be certain if any other behaviors are being suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. We recommended only positive reinforcement, reward based training.)
