A Staff member  writes: Christos was hesitant to come out of his cage for a walk with me but I wouldn’t take no for an answer! I wanted to show him a good time. First thing outside the shelter he relieved himself (likely potty trained!). As we began our walk, he went very slow and froze near passing carts and groups of people. He also flinched when I would go to pet him. But with patience and tenderness he began to relax, trust me and gain confidence! In the park he actually laid down! His leash manners are top notch. The leash was loose the entire time! Affectionate and mellow, he will make the perfect canine companion for a lucky adopter!

A volunteer writes:
Tiny Christos is such a unique guy and his slow pace, gentle manners and rich brown fur  instantly bring to mind a sweet new nickname…Molasses! With his Hound-y good looks and soulful eyes he seems to have stepped right out of a picture book, the quintessential ‘sad puppy’ just waiting for his happily ever after to come. Christos is not boisterous or playful but he has the quiet charms of a true gentleman and an affectionate nature to match, the kind of dog who breaks hearts and inspires awws wherever he goes. Though he can seem a little timid at first, he’s just as grateful for attention, snuggles and kisses as the next dog and once we’re settled in a quiet spot he’s happy to show off his ‘sit’ and delicately nibble some much-needed treats from my hand with a super soft mouth. Christos is chill passing by the other dogs’ kennels and curls into a little nugget on his bed when we return, grateful for a soft place to rest his weary head and dream of the new home and forever family he’s waited so long to find. Life has not been a bed of roses for our little Molasses boy and it shows in his thin frame and shy ways but he has all the potential in the world and with time, TLC and plenty of good food Christos is going to shine like a star.
