SAFE 10/11/17
Hello, my name is Chloe. My animal id is #7994. I am a female brown dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 8 months 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
Behavior determination: Experience A volunteer writes: Gorgeous. Really gorgeous!!!! Chloe is a stunning youngster, a boyish beauty, strong and tall but still with the shyness and innocence of a puppy. She is only eight months of age. Chloe was well cared for by her previous owners, found by a good samaritan, but brought to us as she did not get along with the resident cat. She did quite well, though, with a young child, a little dog, and the adults living in the house. She seems mixed up (quite understandable), pulling strongly and seemingly aimlessly on the leash, listening to every sound, watching for every move around her. Her debuts in playgroup with her peers were on the shy side. Chloe is really trying hard to find her bearings. She does come when I call her, even hops on the bench, accepts caresses and at times, glances furtively at me, looking maybe for reassurance. She took some treats, even started running after a ball and brought back a rope toy toward the end of or time together. That was a good sign that the babe in her is starting to push through her discomfort. I trust that an amazing gal will emerge from the bemused youngster in our care. For that, Miss Chloe needs your help, your puppy-raising skills and, of course, your love. Come and meet her soon at the Manhattan Care Center.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: EXPERIENCE (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below) Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable Recommendations: No cats Potential challenges: Basic manners/poor impulse control Anxiety Potential challenges comments: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control: It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute any frustration and teach her to control her impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training only is recommended. _X_Anxiety: Chloe has shown some signs of potential anxiety in the care center, vocalizing, whining and pacing in the assessment room and through play sessions outside. We do not know if this behavior will occur in a home environment, but if it does we recommend giving Chloe alternative things to do such as Kongs and puzzle toys, and physical exercise.
