04/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/07/16 14:54 Chloe is a 1 year old female American Pit-Bull Terrier. She was given to her family as a gift from a friend and has been in their care since a puppy. She is being surrendered into our care center due to personal problems. At times she will nip at her tail. She is friendly with strangers and plays somewhat rough with adults; for attention she will jump on you. Has lived with children ages 5 and 7 and is relaxed, playful and gentle with them. Has spent time with both large and small breed dogs and is relaxed when around; will male dogs when they attempt to sniff her area she will growl. Has no experience with cats. There is no knowing history of her biting another animal or person. She will poop and pee within the home, and will; destroy household items (shoes). During storms or fireworks she will bark. Isn’t bothered when her food bowl is touched and when toys or objects are being taken from owner she is fine but when strangers attempt she may growl. When she hears the water for baths she will come and relax to be bathed. When attempt is made for nail trimming she will pull away or walk away. Friendly when her coat is being brushed. When unfamiliar people approach the home she will bark and when unfamiliar people approach you she isn’t bothered and will allow petting. Chloe is described as being friendly and affectionate with a medium activity level. Her favorite activities are running so she will do best in a home with space to run and two adults only. When home she will follow her owner around or play with her squeaky or rope toys. Indoors only she at dry food Wellness 3 times a day. Chloe isn’t house trained and would have accidents daily. When left alone in the home she goes to potty and can destroy things in the home. Has never been left alone in a yard, is crate trained and can stay in up to 8 hours. She knows commands such as “sit” and “down” (with a treat). For exercise she goes running and on the leash she pulls hard. Off the leash she will run away. Often times she will potty on the cement not likely on grass or dirt. During intake Chloe presented a loose body and allowed all handling from counselor to be scanned (negative), collared and photographed.

04/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chloe previously lived with 2 adults and two children ages 5 and 7 years old. The owner stated Chloe is relaxed, playful and gentle when around the children. According to the owner she is not house trained and is known to destroy certain household items such as shoes. It was reported that Chloe will growl at male dogs that attempt to greet her by sniffing her. The owner describes Chloe as friendly and affectionate. At intake it was reported Chloe was calm with loose body language and allowed all handling. Chloe came into the assessment room loose and wiggly body language. She proved to be friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. She allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining soft body language. Chloe followed the assessor during the tag interaction and began to mouth the leash, but de-escalated quickly. She only displayed minimal interest in the toy item on this portion of the assessment. Due to reports of Chloe being destructive in the home and not being housetrained we recommend Chloe go to a home with an experienced adopter at this time. We also advise so future adopters to make sure to provide mentally and physically stimulating, appropriate chew toys to keep her occupied when left alone so she will not resort to chewing shoes. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, mouths the leash but quickly de-escalates. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Chloe approaches and greets with a soft body posture. Once in the pen she exchanges sniffs with the helper dog and maintains a loose body. Chloe does attempt to mount but is easily deterred.
