07/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chloe previously lived with adults and children ages 1 and 10 years old. The owner stated Chloe is friendly, playful and affectionate towards strangers, adults and children alike. The owner mentioned Chloe is house trained. At intake it was reported Chloe was friendly and social, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Chloe came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was shy but social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Chloe was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Chloe was easy to handle when engaged with the item. During dog-dog, Chloe greets the other dog at the gate with a spine level tail and lip licks. When she enters the pen she exchanges a sniff with a stiff body posture and raised hackles. She explores her surroundings before displaying assertive behavior; placing her muzzle on the other dogs face and following him. She offered an inappropriately hard correction when the male attempted to mount her. Due to some concerns with other dogs, the behavior department feels she would be suitable with an experienced adopter and we recommend she be the only dog in the house hold. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest.
