09/10/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/10/17 12:54 Basic Information Chirpy is a female, white small breed dog that is estimated to be 7 years old. She was found on the street, finder wasn’t able to keep him due to allergies so she was brought in as a stray. Chirpy has no known medical problems. Socialization In the finders home Chirpy was fearful around strangers. She did not play with anyone at the home and did not interact with children or adults. She did not bite or show signs of aggression to anyone at the home. Behavior Chirpy barked at the door when she heard knocking or a car horn. She wasn’t bothered when her food bowl was taken away. She was afraid of being picked up or being woken up. She was fine being bathed and brushed. For a new family Chirpy’s finder described her as fearful, anxious and shy. She has a low energy level and spends most of the day lying around. She was eating dry food. When Chirpy was left alone in the house she would bark and whine until someone came home. Behavior during intake Chirpy was very stiffed bodied during intake she was shaking when picked up and kept her tail between her legs. She was whining when we placed her down to take her picture. After a few minutes of having her picked up she stopped shaking and calmed down.
09/12/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: There was a kennel card with a name…Chirpy, but I could not see any dog in the kennel. May be a magician came by and made her disappear? I opened the door with caution and found a miniature of a dog hidden under a blanket and the kuranda bed. She bounced like a golden sparkle and plastered herself against the wall. She was so frightened but after a while, let me pet her and leash her, although she flew all over me before she settled tight in my arms. No more shaking. She was…at home, safe against my chest. I so wish I could take her with me. We stayed like that a good ten minutes, then I relaxed my hold and let her free on my lap. She was tamed and ate tiny pieces of dry freeze chicken, hungrily. Chirpy is not that old, but thin, and her teeth are in pretty bad shape. She will need dental and veterinary care, as she came to us already with a cold. Chirpy is a dear little girl who so dreams of the true love of a person and the safety of a home. Come and meet her soon at the Manhattan Care Center.
