01/03/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A tiny morsel of delicious is wagging her tail inside her kennel, her sparkling eyes saying, ‘take me out’. I do, she goes potty as soon as we’re outside and off we go for a short walk. Chipotle allows me to put a coat on her, is bouncy on leash, her tail wags, and she looks up as we go. Stopping briefly for some photos she poses with a perfect sit, wags her tail and gently takes some treats. She’s too thin in general so we’re feeding her an extra meal daily to help her gain some weight. Chipotle has some boo boos of unknown origin which are healing and scabbing. Nothing seems to bother her however as she’s lively, super affectionate giving kisses and then more kisses. Sweet, friendly, bouncy and sometimes a bit vocal she has an awesome personality and a can do attitude. Nothing will stop her from loving and playing. She’s a tiny peanut and even when at optimum weight will still be a tiny peanut. Perfectly named as she’s a ‘hot little pepper’ with a spicy personality, our little Chipotle is hoping to meet you.
01/06/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: None Unaltered, stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 1/6/2017 Look: 1. Dog jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth, licks assessor’s hand. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game, vocalizes while running. Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed Toy 1. Dog keeps a firm grip, tail wagging, body not stiff. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Summary: Chipotle displayed high energy and movement during her assessment, at times jumping up, overall friendly and sociable. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:1-2-17 During initial medical exam chipotle appeared to allow handling ENERGY LEVEL: Chipotle is an enthusiastic young dog who will need daily mental and physical exercise and stimulation. We recommend using puzzle feeders rather than bowls for feeding. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control: Chipotle appears to have received little guidance on appropriate interactions with humans. His energy is directed at getting closer to his handler, but he may need to learn some alternate behaviors to jumping to solicit attention. We recommend ignoring undesired behaviors and rewarding desired ones. We also recommend only force-free, reward-based training methods for Chipotle.
