A sweet smile, lush fur, a huggable body and perky ears any child would trust to whisper their secrets to…is Chino a dog or an over-sized teddy bear? Actually, he’s both! Friendly, mellow, well-socialized with dogs, kids and even cats, knowledgeable in commands, house trained and just so darn cute, it’s hard to imagine a home that wouldn’t be enhanced by having Chino join the pack. This big mush grew up (and out) alongside his elderly owner for 8 happy years but while he’s still young and healthy, sadly she is not, so he’s joined us here at the Care Center in hopes of finding a new family to love. We’re told his likes include squeaky toys, stuffed animals, boiled chicken, getting brushed and sleeping in the big bed with his Mom and his dislikes are loud noises, storms and…bath time. Chino is such an easy fellow, a good walker and all-round sweetheart and he’d be the perfect teddy-dog for any family as soft-hearted and gentle as he is. Through lazy summer days and snuggly winter nights, Chino promises a lifetime of true loyalty. Can he count on you to make his golden years shine bright?

PROFILE :

Basic Information: Chino is a male 11yr old medium sized dog who was kept in the same home for the past 8yrs. Unfortunately the previous owner was an older woman and was unable to keep him. He was last taken to the vet last year for his yearly vaccines.
Socialization: Around strangers and children Chino will stay to himself, is usually tolerant of people and doesn’t like to play with anyone. He has been socialized with both cats and dogs and he is tolerant of both but will not play with either one. No records of him ever bitting another person or animal.
Behavior: Chino is known to attempt to run out the door of his home when he sees the door open and during storms, fireworks and loud noises he will panic, become extremely terrified and attempt to escape if he has the chance to. He isn’t bothered when it comes to having his toys, food or treats touched while he is eating, being held or
restrained, being disturbed while asleep, being brushed or someone unfamiliar approaching her home or owner. However Chino is not a fan of bath time or getting his nails trimmened and becomes afraid and attempts to run away from you.
For a New Family to Know: Chino is described as friendly, shy, confident, very pushy and independent and mellow. He has a low activity level, likes to play with stuffed animals and squeak toys and occasionally will like to play tug. He has been kept indoors only, likes to sleep with his owner, eats wet food Pedigree at least once a day and occasionally likes to eats boiled chicken. He is considered house-trained, has never had an accident at home, is well-behaved when left alone at home, has never been crate trained, knows how to sit, come, down and give paw, enjoys going on walks at least 3x a day, pulls lightly on the leash and will attempt to run away off leash.

Intake: Upon intake Chino allowed all handling, being collared and having his picture taken.
