I am a female black and white chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 12 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 07/27/2016 from NY 10456, owner surrender reason stated was NYCHA BAN.

07/27/2016 Exam Type VACCINATE – Medical Rating is 3 NC – MAJOR CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 18.1 LBS.
Sex: Female, reported spayed Scan: Positive Estimated age: Reported to be 12 years old Fleas: No flea dirt. S: Tense, shivering, very still body, looks away and tries to get away. When muzzled and covered with a towel, allows exam. O: BAR-H, BCS 7/9 EENT: Nuclear sclerosis or cataracts (no ophthalmoscope). No discharge OU, AU, nose. Oral exam not performed although dental disease is strongly suspected. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Tense, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. UG: Female A: Overweight geriatric female dog, did not perform oral exam but suspect dental disease Short-term prognosis: Fair P: 1. Administered 1.9 ml pyrantel and Activyl 14-22 during exam 2. Recommend dental evaluation with dental cleaning and rads, and extractions as needed 1088

07/27/16 13:51 Chilli A1082896 is a female 12 yo female chihuahuah SH. She was given to the owner as a gift and is being surrendered because the owner is having problems with his landlord. She has not been to the vet in over a year and currently has no health issues. Socialization Chilli is very friendly around strangers and children. She was not introduced to cats. She lived in the home with 2 other dogs and lived with them all her life. She has not bitten anyone or any other animal. Behavior Chilli wasn’t bothered when having her food bowl touched or toys and treats taken away from her. She enjoyed getting a bath and being brushed. She didn’t go up on the furniture in the house. She is shy when strangers approach the owner. She isn’t bothered when disturbed while sleeping. For the new family to know Chilli was described as affectionate, sweet, playful and a cuddler with a medium activity level. She likes to play with balls and stuffed toys and knows how to play fetch. She is mostly house trained but has accidents in the house when left for more than 7 hours. She is well behaved when left in the house alone. She ate pedigree dry food. She slept on a doggie bed on the floor in the bedroom. Behavior during intake Chilli was very shy when I apporached her. The owner scanned her, collared and placed her onto the backdrop so I can photograph her. She wagged her little tail when spoken to softly and she was then transferred into a kennel.

Chilli was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth, growling. The behavior team had to use a towel to safely remove her from her kennel. Chilli is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. She was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. She had a low body, hackles raised, ears back, tucked tail, showing his teeth. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Chilli was not interested in toys. Chilli was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Chilli is very friendly around strangers and children. She was not introduced to cats. She lived in the home with 2 other dogs and lived with them all her life. Chilli was described as affectionate, sweet, playful and a cuddler with a medium activity level. She likes to play with balls and stuffed toys and knows how to play fetch. Chilli wasn’t bothered when having her food bowl touched or toys and treats taken away from her”. The behavior department feels that Chilli would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Toy 1: No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Chilli stays in one spot and does not approach.
