A volunteer writes:

We all love to take Chili out. She is happy to come out of her kennel and is such an easy going gal, calm, friendly and well mannered. She is a pretty sight too, a little evening black dress on and two sparkling  amber jewels to brighten it up.Chili is a great and peaceful walker. Very house trained, she does her business rather in the street. She does not chase pigeons or squirrels and passes by other dogs without fuss. She is a little unsure in playgroups with her peers  but slowly getting the idea of what playdates are… Chili was found as a stray but  does not look like a garage dog. She seems to have been well cared for, looks healthy and wears a well groomed  and lush ebony coat. I had the hope that she just escaped   naughtily on her own but nobody came to get her back…Chili likes to be free in the yard.  Food is not her passion but she will sit for treats or just upon request. She loves to throne on the bench or just sit next to her caretaker and cry a little bit on her shoulder, soft weeping sounds…Chili is a trooper but her heart says otherwise… She misses her home, her family and  what ever her life was..She does not “get” what is happening to her…. Each moment spent with a human here at the care center, put a bit of balm on her “wounds”… Chili is quite a nice dog, very happy and blessed  in the presence of her human friends. She enjoys caresses and sweet talks. She seems very much like a family dog who got out of luck….Chili performed very well on her behavioral evaluation. I dream to see her soon safe , cared for and loved as she deserves. Chili is at the Manhattan Care Center and has put her future in your hands…
PLAYGROUP:
Chili…

When off leash with other dogs Chili is a little tense, sniffing and allowing greeting with hackles raised. She continues to reapproach, often placing her head over the other dogs shoulder. She offers a correction when solicited with play.

2/11 update:

Chili greets the female helper dog briefly before going off to explore the yard.
