MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
01/03/2017 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 55.0 LBS.
PLAYGROUP: 1/3: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Chico mostly appears anxious in the yard. He approaches and sniffs the greeter dog one, then wanders away. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 1/1/17 During his initial medical exam Chico allowed all handling once out of the kennel. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Chico has been observed to snap when attempting to remove a toy from his possession, becoming aroused and unable to recover easily; for that reason we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification to address this guarding behavior and can extensively counsel potential adopters before placement into a permanent home.) Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training is recommended.) _X_Resource guarding (We cannot be certain whether any guarding or possessive behavior may appear in a home environment, but we recommend adopters comfortable with safe management and modification of guarding behavior in case it does.)
