06/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Chex came into the shelter as a stray, so her past behavior in a home is unknown. Upon intake it was reported Chex was tense and allowed minimal handling, and attempted to lung at the counselor. During SAFER Chex came into the assessment room ten, she was social towards the assessor with a slow approach. Chex allowed all handling items to be conducted. Chex was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Chex was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Chex seems uncomfortable with a fast approach and is also fearful in the care center, so the department feels she can be suitable for an” experienced” adopter with no young children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft body, licks hand, opens mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1:2. Dog quickly pulls back body tense. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back body tense. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog -Dog: Chex greets with a soft, relaxed body and wanders in the pen.

Chex was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Chex was initially nervous and wandered in the pen displaying soft body language. She continually solicits play, ignoring the other dogs signals that he does not want to engage. She enjoys playing with a dog that matches her energy level. She manages a sexually motivated male that mounts her by placing a paw on him back and standing over him. 6/12: Chex is initially nervous but relaxes as the session continues. She is tolerant of the greeter dog’s persistent play solicitations as she wanders in the pen. 6/14: Chex greets with a soft, relaxed body and wanders in the pen. 6/16: Chex manages a sexually motivated male that mounts her by placing a paw on him back and standing over him. She solicits play with play bows and barking. She continually solicits play, ignoring the other dogs signals that he does not want to engage. 6/20: Chex engage in play with a rough player but when she met a softer dog she began muzzle punching, chest bumping and nipping at his face in order to solicit play.
