Minimal interest. Dog sniffs, does not fully engage Summary: Cherry shied away from direct touch if attempting to pet too quickly overhead, much more relaxed if pet under her chin or on her side. INTAKE BEHAVIOR Date of intake 8/7/2017 Cherry allowed all handling during intake. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Date of initial 8/4/2017 During her initial medical exam, Cherry was social and allowed all handling. PLAYGROUP When off leash with other dogs, Cherry was very polite when greeting a large playful male. She offeres multiple play bows, solicits play and corrects appropriately. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Cherry so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the care center, Cherry displays as a social, enthusiastic dog with a medium to high level of energy. She will benefit from daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend daily walks, runs, exercise, and play. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) Potential challenges: _X_Handling/touch sensitivity – Cherry has been observed to become uncomfortable when a person reaches quickly over her head. She will do best if given the option to approach her new adopter at her own pace, preferably offered treats and spoken to in a gentle voice. Cherry should never be forced to submit to petting or handling when she is uncomfortable. She may initially do best being walked with a harness to avoid quick reaching around her head and neck area to attach leash.
