12/02/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/02/16 17:04 Cherish is a 2 year old brown and white female american pitbull terrier who has been in the home for several weeks. Cherish is being surrendered because the family can no longer giver her a home. Cherish lived with 4 adults and no other animals in the home. Cherish has been in the home for several weeks. When someone comes to the door she runs over to greet them and does not bark to alert the family. She seeks introduction with sniffing. She has encountered young children in the home and is described to be gently playful. When on walks she can somewhat insistent on leash but is also responsive to guidance. She is used to getting walked 3 times a day and when she encounters other dogs she is receptive with tale wagging and a loose body. When encountering cats on the street she is curious also with loose body and wagging tail. Cherish allows a bath and has not had a nail trim yet. If on the couch or bed she is easily removed. She allows a bear hug for handling. When first in the home while eating if the owner approached she would guard the food with growling. However after some work with the owner with slowly approaching while eating Cherish now allows them to remove while eating. She does not guard toys. She enjoys playing fetch, running games and tugging. She knows the cue sit and stay. When the family is home she likes to be where they are. When home alone she is well behaved and is not destructive but may whine some when the owner leaves. Cherish likes both wet and dry food. Upon intake Cherish was receptive to introduction with wagging tail, loose body and sniffing. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (positive) collar and photograph. Cherish allowed alll handling and responsive to guidance on leash.
12/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Cherish wiggles and makes googly eyes at everyone who passes her kennel, instantly charming them. But when it comes time to walking, she almost slouches, and her joyful gaze turns unsure. A caramel nugget at just over 30 pounds, Cherish could pass for a pup, but is in fact full-grown. We do not know much about her past, but one guesses she was loved, based on how much she melts at a soft voice and gentle strokes on her shoulders. Unlike many other dogs, she prefers to follow behind you on the leash, waiting for your cue. She readily does her business, and after a block or so, her tail starts to wag and she begins to explore the sidewalks with her nose, unfazed by loud trucks passing, and gratefully sitting for a treat. A perfectly sized package for smaller homes, Cherish is waiting for someone to show her the lead and convince her that she can be the brave, loving girl she has shown glimpses of here. Come to Brooklyn ACC to meet her today!
