08/10/17 19:48 Charming is a 2 year old medium brown and white male dog. He came to the care center as a stray. During intake, Charming was loose bodied and kept his tail wagging. He allowed the counselor to approach, scan, and leash him with no change in body. He would lick the counselor’s arms when he would sit near the chair. He is very gentle in taking treats and toys.

KNOWN HISTORY: None 8/10/17 Unaltered male, stray Previously lived with: Unknown SAFER ASSESSMENT: 8/12/17 Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: Charming was social and playful throughout he assessment. During tag he began to mouth the assessors hand, no pressure. PLAYGROUP: When off leash at the Care Center, Charming displays sexually motivated posture- perk ears, on his tip toes- while sniffing both a novel male and female dog’s genitals. He engages in brief play, while attempting to mount. He persists after handler interruptions, though he does take breaks on his own. Charming was surrender as a stray so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Charming be placed with resident dogs that are tolerant of his sexually motivated behavior and match his gentle play style. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 8/10/17 At intake Charming was very sweet and allowed all handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/11/17 Charming displayed very loose and friendly on the leash. He displayed a high energy, but well behaved. Did great for all medical handling. Wagging his tail during entire time. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Charming so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. Charming is a young, enthusiastic, social dog, and will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – yes-scarring on face Objective P = wnl R = wnl BCS 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: clean adult dentition PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI, only one testicle descended, unable to palpate other testice in inguinal region; unilateral abdominal cryptorchid MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat.
