03/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1066057 Charmander came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Charmander bared his teeth with stiff body language when attempting to place the rope on him, no handling was done due to his temperament. During SAFER Charmander came into the assessment room calm, he was a bit social but still timid, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Charmander bared his teeth and growled at the assessor when attempting to collar him. During this portion of the assessment on toy item Charmander freezes, growls and tries to bite the assessor hand. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Charmander approaches the helper dog with his body soft and tail at spine. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy 1: 5. Dog freezes, growls and tries to bite the assessor hand. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
