01/20/17 : Geriatric.
S/O: BARH. Attn seeking, became slighlty nervous during exam (tail tucked), allowed all handling. BCS 2.5/5. EENT: Moderate tartar, early nuclear sclerosis, no ocular or nasal discharge, ears wnl. HL: Normal thoracic auscultation, no murmurs/arrythmias, lungs clear. ABD: Slightly tense on abdominal palpation, non-tender, no abnormalities appreciated. INTEG: Skin tag at right lateral stife, owvergrown nails. MS: Ambulatory x 4, no apparent lameness. UG: Female. A: Owner reports 15yo dog with several previous litters and recent onset (1 year) of increased urination. No reports or signs of frequent urination since intake. Geriatric, thin body condition — Looks great for 15yrs.
P: Rec CBC/Chem/UA. Continue to monitor while at BACC. Good prognosis

P: Rec CBC/Chem/UA. Continue to monitor while at BACC. Good prognosis. CBC/Chem — Mild lymphopenia (0.55K/ul ref 1.05- 5.1) and mildly increased Glob (5.2g/dl ref 2.5-4.5). All other other parameters WNL.
UA — LVT reports blood in urine when obtaining free catch sample.
Blood >250 (hemolysed). Bilirubin ++. Protein 100. Nitrite positive. ketones neg. glucose neg. pH 6. SG 1.020. Leukocyte 500.
Mild lymphopenia likely stress related. Blood in urine, urinalysis abnormalities and owner reported frequent urination – R/O UTI vs other. Rec convenia 1.7ml sq today. Continue to monitor for polyuria and hematuria. Good prognosis

Basic Information:
Champagne is a 15 year old unaltered American Pit Bull Terrier mix. She has been in her home for the last 10 years and is being surrendered due to increase urination that happens in the home. Champagne has not been to the vet in many years but has started to use the bathroom very frequently and started to have accidents in the home over the last year.
Socialization:
Champagne is friendly and outgoing when meeting strangers. She has lived with children of all ages and she is gentle during play with them. She has lived with 2 small dogs (shih Tzu/yorkie mixes) and she is relaxed and tolerant of the other dogs. She is gentle during play with them. She has also lived with a cat that she is relaxed and tolerant of.
Behavior:
The owner states that Champagne will panic during thunder storms and fireworks. She is not bothered if anyone touches or removes her food bowl when eating. She will growl and tense up if someone takes her ones away but she will still let them take the bone. She will not snap or bite over the bone. She is not bothered when held, removed from furniture, brushed, has her nails trimmed, or when someone enters the home. She is afraid of baths and will try to jump out.
For a New Family to Know:
Champagne is described as friendly, affectionate, and playful. She has a medium activity level. She loves to go for walks and run around. She likes to play with chew toys and bones. Her favorite game is chase. She is kept indoors and is walked many times a day, more now because or her increase urination. She sleeps on the rug in the home. She eats wet and dry food, any brand. She is house trained but is having accidents in the house the last years because of her need to urinate much more than usual. She is well behaved when left home a home. She knows the commands sit, come, down, and stay. When she is off leash she stays close to her owner.
Admissions Behavior:
Champagne approached the counselor with a soft body. She allowed all handling and nuzzled hand when pet.
Group Behavior::
According to Champagne’s previous owner, has lived with 2 small dogs and she is relaxed and tolerant of the other dogs. She is gentle during play with them.

1/19: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Champagne displays neutral body language when greeting a novel male dog. She sniffs him briefly and then explores the pen.
1/21: Champagne displays soft body language when greeting a novel female dog. When the female solicits play, Champagne offers an appropriate correction and walks away. She spends the remainder of her time keeping to herself as she explores the pen.
