04/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Champ could not be more deserving of his name, a one-in-a-million dog whose gorgeous, winning personality makes his roughed-up exterior almost disappear before your eyes. And don’t let that serious expression fool you, behind his seemingly sad brown-n-blue gaze is a playful, funny and joyful young boy ready to live life to the full. Champ knows his commands well and will come and sit politely for treats or a toy, he has no problem being petted all over, even on his face, and he just LOVES a good game of fetch. While he prefers to keep the ball for himself, this amiable dude doesn’t guard his possessions, and once it drops I can reach out for another throw with his eager blessing. Champ walks very nicely on leash (until he spots a squirrel!) and seems to be house trained too. He’s wonderfully friendly, greeting dogs of all shapes and sizes with a happy butt wiggle and giving big tail wags when a little boy and his Mom stopped to admire him during our walk. Don’t tell the others, but Champ has raced to the top of my favorites list after only one date–he’s just that wonderful. Life hasn’t treated this beautiful boy kindly but he’s ready to forgive, forget and start over with a new family who’ll spoil him every day for the rest of his long, happy life. Ask to meet the future undisputed Champ of your heart at our Manhattan Care Center today, you’ll be so glad you did. Another volunteer writes: When a colleague tells me she’s in love with a dog, well, I just need to meet that dog and see what the fuss is all about. Am I glad I did! Champ is just that, a champ! What immediately attracts you when you first look at him is his one blue eye and one brown eye. So unusual and so attractive. His coat is a two toned tan, and while he’s too thin and is being fed an extra meal daily, there is no mistaking the look of a champion! Fun and friendly with people, he enjoys a good romp in doggie playgroup, loves his toys and is willing to share them with me, and his happy place after playtime is draped on my lap for some cuddling. So, I’ve elected myself the President of The Champ Fan Club, but am willing to relinquish my title to the person who welcomes Champ into their family. Come meet our volunteer favorite today!
