KNOWN HISTORY: None 1/22/17 Intact Male, Stray (Unknown) SAFER ASSESSMENT: 1/24/17 Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag:1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1:3. Dog places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand applying pressure. Toy: 1. . Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Summary: Chalupa was friendly but during paw squeeze, Chalupa was soft in body and nipped the assessor’s arm. Seemed to be due to excitement or overstimulation but the bite was hard and left a bruise (no skin broken). DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Chalupa was brought in as a stray so his past behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash with other dogs, Chalupa solicits gentle bouncy play before attempting to mount the female helper dog. He does respond quickly to interruptions by the handlers but returns to being sexually motivated after a few moments. When off leash with a neutered male dog, Chalupa displays slight assertive posturing, standing tall and attempting to place his chin on the other males back. He responds well to handler interruptions and spends the remainder of the session exploring the pen. Chalupa was brought in as a stray so his past behavior around other dogs is unknown. 1/23: When off leash with other dogs, Chalupa solicits gentle bouncy play before attempting to mount the female helper dog. He does respond quickly to interruptions by the handlers but returns to being sexually motivated after a few moments. 1/24: When off leash with a neutered male dog, Chalupa displays slight assertive posturing, standing tall and attempting to place his chin on the other males back. He responds well to handler interruptions and spends the remainder of the session exploring the pen. 1/25: An attempt was made to introduce Chalupa to an intact male dog. When the other male dog becomes stiff, Chalupa begins to react, growling and barking while muzzle punching the gate. They are not introduced.
