09/07/16 16:13 Cedar is a four year old brown American Pitbull. He was adopted from ACC and was with her owner for three months. He was returned to ACC due to behaviors she displayed in the home. Cedar has lived with two adults, a ten year old child and a pitbull. He is described as friendly around strangers and will engage in gentle play. Around the child he is relaxed and will engage in gentle play. Cedar has spent time with another male pitbull and is described as playful and tolerant. Owner stated he would engage in exuberant play with the other dog. Cedar is fearful of loud noises and will tense up and become anxious and retreat. Cedar will guard his bowl while eating and if his ffod is touched while eating he will eat faster and place himself in front of the bowl, he will not growl. Cedar does not like when his toys are touched and will growl. He eats Blue Buffalo dry food and is fed twice a day. He likes peanutbutter treats. Cedar is walked twice a day and will not pull on leash. Upon intake Cedar was relaxed and allowed all handling. Cousnelor was able to scan (positive), collar and photograph.

Cedar was returned into the Care Center on 9/7/16. He has a history in the home. Behavior during intake: Cedar was relaxed and allowed all handling from the counselor. Cedar previously lived with two adults, a ten year old child and an American Pit-bull terrier. Cedar was described by the owner as friendly around strangers, and will engage in play. Around the child Cedar is known to be relaxed and will engage in gentle play. The owner mentioned Cedar appears to be fearful of loud noises and will tense up become anxious and retreat. Cedar will guard his bowl while eating and if his food is touched while eating; he will eat faster and place himself in front of the bowl, he will not growl. However Cedar is known to growl when his toys are touched but no mention of an actual bite. Cedar was recently involved in an incident in the home were a family member was bitten. Owner stated her brother was provoking Cedar when Cedar became anxious and bit his face. He bit his upper lip and underneath his chin resulting in multiple punctures. The bite did require stitches. During SAFER Cedar had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Cedar was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Cedar was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Cedar appears to be sociable, he is known to guard his food, and is reportedly afraid of loud noises, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “experienced “adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, tail wagging. Dog mouths leash at end of game; no pressure applied. Squeeze 1: 1 Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1 Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1 Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you.

**Social Greeter Dog** According to Cedar’s previous owner, Cedar has lived with a small female Yorkie. He becomes playful around her but sometimes plays a bit rough due to his size. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Cedar engages in gentle play with playful female dogs. He is a bit sexually motivated but listens to handler interruptions and continues to play. When being introduced to a male, Cedar status seeks and mounts the other male however when meeting a male puppy he engages in soft play and is tolerant of the puppy’s mouthiness. In a group of female high energy players, Cedar becomes a bit overwhelmed and begins to mount female dogs. He is tolerant of playful puppies. The Behavior Department recommends that Cedar be placed in a home with female dogs only. 7/21: Cedar displays soft body language as he greets the other dog. He becomes slightly sexually motivated, attempting to mount the female dog, but immediately listens to handler interruptions and continues to display bouncy body language. 7/25: Cedar gives an appropriate stop signal to a play partner when play becomes too arousing. He also is able to tone his play down to engage with a smaller male puppy and is tolerant of his constant lip licking and mouthiness. 7/26: Cedar is utilized as a greeter dog today. He greets new female dogs with soft body language and solicits gentle play. In a group of female high energy players, Cedar becomes a bit overwhelmed and begins to mount female dogs. 7/27: Cedar is tolerant of high energy play in a group of puppies. 9/20: Cedar solicits and engages in gentle play with male and female dogs. He listens to a correction from a female dog when his play style is too high energy for her.

07/18/16 19:20 BASIC INFORMAITON Cedar is an American Staffordshire that is 4 years old. The owner received Cedar when he was a puppy from a family member. Since a puppy Cedar has been his loyal companion. The owner is surrendering Cedar due to his busy work schedule is he unable to give him the care he needs. Cedar has no known illness. BEHAVIOR Cedar has been around children ages 2, 10 & 17. He is playful and relaxed around them. He enjoys being petted and follows them around excitably. Around adults Cedar is exuberant and affectionate. He jumps up and leans to be petted. Cedar is friendly with strangers that come over and are in the street. He displays the same behavior. Cedar has lived with a small female Yorkie. He becomes playful around her but sometimes plays a bit rough due to his sizes. He has never lived or has been introduced to cats. SOCIALIZATION Cedar allows all handling. He allows for the owners to touch his food bowl while eating, allows for toys to be removed from his mouth with no problem. He isn’t bother having his nails trimmed and goes into the tub to be bathed. He has never had a bite history. Cedar is housed trained but tends to have accidence when he is not walked outside on time. He is walked 2-3 times a day and prefers to uses the bathroom on grassy areas. He knows the commands sit, stay come and lay down. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Cedar is described as playful, excitable and affectionate. He tends to be in the same room that the owner is in. He enjoys playing with toys such as ball, squeaky toys and bones. His favorite diet is pedigree wet and dry mix. His favorite thing to do is run, play fetch and play in the yard for hours. He pulls hard on the leash but of leash he wander and comes back when called. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Cedar during intake he was relaxes and approached counselor. His body was loose and wiggly. He allowed to be petted. He allowed to be collard, scanned and photographed.
