BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY: “…According to the owner Zeus is fearful of strangers and will bark at them when he sees them and then retreat. He does not engage in any play with strangers. However, Zeus did live with two teenagers and was said to engage in gentle play with just them. The owner reported that if someone attempts to take his treats, toys or food away he will growl and snap. Zeus was growling, snarling, and attempted to bite as the handler attempted to remove him from his kennel. In addition he can be seen body trembling with a raised lip when approached. Due to this behavior the handling items were not able to be conducted due to stress levels and safety concerns. Zeus displayed no interest in the toy on this portion of the assessment. When on an on-leash dog interaction Zeus approached the helper dog with relaxed body language. We recommend Zeus go to a New Hope partner that can provide the behavior modification necessary before placement into a home.” If you cannot commit long-term, please consider fostering Zeus: his expenses will be paid for; you will save his very precious life, and the rescue will find him a permanent home. Please pledge, share, foster, adopt dear Zeus.
